Last week When Yahoo acquired e-mail inbox sanity provider Xobni for around $35 million, Xobni announced on its blog the acquisition and their shutdown date i.e. July 2, 2014 for their services.
Xobni has provided plugins and apps to manage your e-mail, highlight important messages, filter out spam and contextualize messages from senders with social data from Facebook and Twitter. It’s a server based solution. That means the data is stored on your system but the processing (getting data from FB & Twitter) happens on Xobni servers.
In order to save the data files of Xobni, you can change it’s data files location. Please use the following steps:
1. Close Outlook
2. Create a new directory at D:xobni (or other suitable location)
3. Create a new file named XobniDataFiles.reg
4. Paste the following into it:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeXobni] “DataFiles”=”C:\Xobni” [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareWow6432NodeXobni] “DataFiles”=”C:\Xobni”5. Double-click the XobniDataFiles.reg file
6. Restart Outlook
Done!
An idea: You can better start using Mozilla Thunderbird. It also support the Google Chat.
